"Do unburied dead bodies really spread disease?"

Read the full report here: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8465464.stm

When I first saw this blog title I thought it sounded like some sort of zombie warning! Then I realised it'd probably be about all the dead bodies in Haiti.

The morbid goth in me decided to blog about it anyway.

According to the article, the bodies don't actually pose as much of a risk as everyone thinks, and that burying them too quickly means they often don't get a chance to be identified.

The main reason they are disposed of so hastily is due to the smell and because animals may start to eat them - both of these are unpleasant and possible psychologically disturbing to the survivors.

When the estimates say there could be up to 200,000 people dead, you just can't get your head around the absolute awful conditions they must be facing there.
